American Basketball Association Anaheim Amigos Les Salvage scored 10 3-point baskets in a game against the Denver Rockets at the Auditorium Arena in Denver, Colorado.  The Denver Rockets won, 142-108. In 1974, the Denver Rockets changed their name to the Denver Nuggets.

More than 100,000 Soviet troops withdrew from Afghanistan almost 10 years after the USSR invaded the country.
